My Journey

I’ve always been curious about people. What really makes them tick and how to get the best from each other. This curiosity led me to start a career in HR and continued to grow into an absolute passion for developing others to be their best selves. Over the years I came to realise this is achieved by giving people the confidense and freedom to be their authentic selves.

The first time I experienced the magic of coaching for myself, was when I’d been promoted to my first Director of HR job. My boss saw something in me I hadn’t and I felt out of my depth with huge feelings of imposter syndrome. So having a safe space to talk through my vision for the role as well as my fears quickly helped me transition and embrace my new identity!

That first powerful experience of coaching opened up a desire and thirst to understand myself better, the limiting beliefs I held onto and dragged around with me, the “not quite good enough” inner narrative; even though it didn’t seem to match how others saw me and the feedback I received.

'Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right'

So I started to personally invest in a range of self-inquiry/personal development programmes (I admit I’m a self-help addict!) which helped me finally drop the mask I’d been wearing, of needing to constantly prove myself and feel comfortable (most of the time!) in my own skin. That’s when I really became a leader.

Back to my corporate career, when I returned to my job after having my second son, I was faced with what felt like the devastating news my role was to be made redundant. I was already coping with ‘baby brain’, (I think that’s the technical term!), so added to this being made redundant felt like I was ‘washed up at 40’! Sadly, I didn’t have access to coaching this time, otherwise I may have realised much sooner it was actually a huge opportunity and a turning point in my career.

As a result I ended up taking a bit of a left turn with my career into Learning and Organisational Development and discovered my true passion. I love creating empowering environments and developing people to really fulfil their potential. And the best way to do this is by developing conscious, compassionate, evolved leaders who engage and motivate their people, build belief, loyalty and pride. I see this as a win-win for everyone.

With a renewed purpose and alignment, I went on to help a number of organisations develop their people, culture and performance with transformational results. Outstanding levels of employee engagement, sector leading customer satisfaction, increased productivity and accountability and an enviable one-team culture. In my last corporate role as Director of People and Culture for Network Homes, (a Social Housing Provider in London) we became known for our culture and the icing on the cake was gaining external recognition too, through a clutch of HR industry awards in 2019.

What was the secret ingredient? Leadership. Because leadership creates culture. Always.

In 2021, I then did all the lockdown cliches… got a puppy, grew my hair, baked some bread and… decided to set up my own business. Tracey Webb Consulting was born. I now share all my passion, energy and experience with other organisations and leaders to help them grow, evolve and thrive.
